What’s the Point of Life?

Why am I here? What’s the meaning of all this? What’s the point of life?

These aren’t questions for just philosophers or teenagers going through an identity crisis. They’re questions every thinking person wrestles with — especially when life feels heavy, disappointing, or uncertain.

If you’ve ever laid awake at night wondering, “What’s the reason for any of this?” — you’re not alone. And you’re not crazy.

The truth is, you were made for something more. And the Bible gives us a clear, life-changing answer.

You Were Made by God — On Purpose

You are not a cosmic accident. You didn’t get here by random chance or evolutionary mistake. You were created by a loving God, intentionally formed in your mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13).

“All things were created through Him and for Him.” — Colossians 1:16

That means you were made by God and for God. Your ultimate purpose isn’t comfort, success, fame, or pleasure. It’s to know your Creator and live in relationship with Him.

So Why Does Life Feel So Empty Sometimes?

If we were made for God, why does life often feel pointless, confusing, or painful?

The answer is simple: sin.

Sin isn’t just breaking rules. It’s breaking relationship. It’s when we choose our way over God’s way. And every one of us has done it.

“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” — Romans 3:23

Sin separates us from the One who gives life meaning. It leaves us chasing substitutes — money, relationships, careers, pleasure — but none of it satisfies. And deep down, we know it.

You Can’t Find Purpose Without the One Who Made You

Imagine trying to use a hammer to eat soup. Doesn’t work, right? Because it wasn’t made for that. Purpose comes from the designer.

You weren’t made to “do your own thing.” You were made to walk with God. That’s why you feel lost without Him.

And the good news? God hasn’t left you alone. He’s been pursuing you the whole time.

Jesus Came to Restore What Sin Broke

God didn’t just sit back while we ruined everything. He came to us — in the person of Jesus Christ.

Jesus lived the perfect life we failed to live. He never sinned, not even once. Then He took our punishment, dying on a cross in our place.

“God made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.” — 2 Corinthians 5:21

Three days later, He rose from the grave, defeating sin and death — and now offers forgiveness, purpose, and eternal life to anyone who will turn to Him.

But Let’s Talk About the Real Problem

The reason life feels empty without God is because we were never meant to live without Him. But sin has made us rebels — and rebels need more than inspiration. We need rescue.

That’s what the cross is all about. Jesus took the judgment you deserve so you could be restored to the God who made you.

But it’s not automatic. You must respond.

You Must Repent and Believe

To be made right with God, you need to:

  • Repent — turn from sin and stop trusting yourself
  • Believe — place your trust fully in Jesus as Lord and Savior

This isn’t religion. It’s relationship. And it’s the only path to real meaning — both now and forever.

A Simple Prayer

You can pray something like this:

“God, I’ve tried to live life my own way. But it hasn’t worked. I believe You created me, and I believe Jesus died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sin and I trust You to save me. Please give me new life. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

If you prayed that — we’d love to talk with you and help you grow in your new walk with God.
