Greed – The Hunger That Never Satisfies

Greed is the hunger that never ends. It says, “Just a little more and I’ll be happy.” But the more you get, the emptier you feel. Greed shifts your eyes from God to gain, from eternity to possessions, from worship to wealth. It promises satisfaction but delivers chains.

Why Greed Is Deadly

Greed is not just about money—it’s about the heart. It makes idols of possessions, positions, and pleasures. Jesus warned that a person’s life does not consist in the abundance of things. Greed blinds you to spiritual need while feeding earthly obsession.

Scripture Callout:
“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” — 1 Timothy 6:10

How Greed Manifests

  • Discontentment: Never satisfied, always chasing more.
  • Compromise: Willing to cut corners or sin for gain.
  • Idolatry: Trusting wealth for security instead of God.
  • Neglect: Valuing possessions more than people or God’s kingdom.

Greed lies by telling you happiness is for sale, but true joy is a gift from God.

The Truth That Satisfies

Contentment isn’t found in what you own—it’s found in who owns you. When you belong to Christ, you can trust Him to supply every need. Gratitude turns greed’s hunger into peace, because you recognize every good gift comes from God.

Scripture Callout:
“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:19

The Gospel’s Answer to Greed

At the cross, Jesus gave everything. He became poor so you could become rich in grace. His sacrifice proves that your worth isn’t measured by wealth but by His blood. When you rest in Christ, the craving for “more” loses its power—because you already have everything you need in Him.

Scripture Callout:
“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.” — 2 Corinthians 8:9

Your Invitation

Are you chasing possessions while neglecting your soul? Jesus offers living water that truly satisfies. Repent of greed, believe the gospel, and receive the riches of grace that never run dry. In Christ, you will find a treasure no thief can steal and no moth can destroy.
