Lust – The Desire That Destroys
Why Lust Is Deadly
Lust is more than physical—it’s spiritual. Jesus said that to look with lust is to commit adultery in the heart. Lust reduces people to objects and love to consumption. It may start in secret, but it never stays there—it destroys from the inside out.
“But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” — Matthew 5:28
How Lust Manifests
- Secret indulgence: Feeding temptation through media or imagination.
- Broken trust: Hiding sin from loved ones and living in deception.
- Escalation: Needing more to feel the same thrill.
- Shame cycle: Sinning, regretting, and repeating without change.
Lust is not love. Love gives. Lust takes.
The Truth That Frees
Purity is not just the absence of sin—it’s the presence of Christ in your heart. God calls us to flee youthful lusts and pursue righteousness. The Holy Spirit empowers us to take every thought captive and walk in holiness.
“Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” — 2 Timothy 2:22
The Gospel’s Answer to Lust
On the cross, Jesus bore not only our guilt but also our shame. His blood cleanses even the deepest stain. Through His resurrection, He offers new life and new desires. In Christ, you are no longer bound by lust—you are free to live pure and whole.
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” — Matthew 5:8
